ITAM Mentorship Program

Our mentorship program is designed to connect with aspiring artisans and professionals to enhance their skills and acquisition by getting them enrolled in a training with our partners in technical and vocational education training institutions across the world. The program has four (4)  components:

1.       Industry Mentorship: Engaging our Partner institutions and linking our mentees to selected companies for internships or industrial attachments for trainees; with a mission of establishing a job-matching service that enables corporate organizations to advertise work opportunities to our members / mentees.

2.       Mentorship Network: Supporting the creation of clubs / network platform across our partner institutions to promote careers in the vocational trade and professional cadres.

3.     Gong Outreach: Sensitizing general members of the public, students and parents on careers in vocational trades. Adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number: 1,5,8, and 17, "leave no one behind"; with deliberate effort to sensitize women and build their interest in venturing into male-dominated trades, and collaborate with other local and international organizations across private and government sectors to undertake projects geared towards youth.

4.    Skills Acquisition: The outcome of a recent study we carried out showed that skills acquisition is the most critical factor in the utilization of entrepreneurship opportunity for self-employment. It also plays critical role in finding new career opportunities. Nigeria is said to be the 7th most populous country in the world, the largest population in Africa, estimated to have about 223.8 million individuals according to Statista report 2024. A number of factors have been identified as causes of unemployment in Nigeria. They include economic downturn, overpopulation, inflation, insecurity, neglect of agricultural sector, lack of job opportunities, and lack of working skills. Empowering Nigerians to work for themselves is one of the major solutions to bringing down the ongoing trend of unemployment. Hence, we have taken the choice of partnership with other stakeholders that shares in our common mission to offer capacity building and skill acquisition for young men and women both at rural areas, urban centres including the underprivileged communities that adversely suffers the devastating effect of unemployment.
